Church and Organ

The appeal for funds to restore the William Allen Chamber Organ (c1794) in Pilning Church has reached £1000. The listed instrument is the oldest of only four remaining in the world and the aim is to fully restore it to its original specification and condition. This is a very encouraging start and it is hoped that many of the people who have benefited from the organ being used at family occasions, weddings, funerals and special times in their lives may wish to support the cause.

There will be an opportunity to view the organ, along with the plans for the reordering of St Peter’s church during an ‘Open Day’ on Saturday, March 9 from 10am to 4pm when your comments will be sought. Free tea/coffee available.

Youth Event

On Saturday, March 9 at 7.30pm there is a Youth Event at Pilning Church. Ages 11 to 18 are invited, and urged to bring their friends. There will be a band, tuck shop and inspiring talks.
