PILNING surgery was 'packed to the gunnels‘ last week as patients and friends came to say farewell to Dr Terry Paterson, G.P. at Pilning for nearly 30 years. The Parish Council presented Terry with a Bristol Blue Bowl, and patients gave donations for a beautiful framed painting of the Severn Vale. Visitors enjoyed tea, laid on by the Patient Support Group, and the Doctor made a precise incision into the celebration cake. He will find retirement brings much more to do, but I reminded him that his favourite saying to his patients “I can assure you it will get better” also applies to retirement.

Comedy Play

Mystery

PILNING and Severn Beach local History Group are hosting an evening’s entertainment given by Dave Cheesley on Saturday, April 13 in Severn Beach Village Hall from 7pm. They don’t know yet what the talk is about but assure everyone it will be very entertaining. Admission is £2 and refreshments will be available.

Quiz Night

ST Peter’s church annual Quiz Night takes place at Pilning School on Friday, April 19. Teams of four may be entered at £4 per head. Call Jeanette to book a place on 01454 632148. You can bring your own drinks.

Diary Date

SATURDAY June 1 will see a ‘Buckingham Palace style Garden Party’ at Pilning School where you can come in all your finery, hats, jackets etc and enjoy a gentle afternoon from 3pm until carriages at 6pm. Invitation.
