A PERSON has been hit by a train in Yate.

Emergency services and Network Rail are on at the town’s railway station after the incident this morning at 8.15am.

All lines were blocked and no trains have been running between Gloucester and Bristol Parkway.

A National Rail spokesman said: “A person has been hit by a train near Yate, this means trains cannot run between Gloucester and Bristol Parkway.

“There is no firm estimate yet of how long disruption will last but it is likely to continue until at least 10am.”

Network Rail said lines have now reopened but there will be residual delays this morning.

Network Rail and the British Transport Police are on site assessing the situation.

No details of the injured person have yet been released.

Passengers are advised to find alternative travel including buses from Yate to Bristol Temple Meads on routes X46, 46 and 47.

Rail operators have requested areplacement road transport is put in place.
