A 100-YEAR-OLD American tourist, who was on a return trip to Gloucester where he once lived, is believed to have been a victim of a mugging.
He had just got off a bus with his son, who is 70, outside the post office in Finlay Road when he lost his balance and fell to the ground.
A passerby helped to pick him up, but it was not until the following morning that the elderly tourist noticed a large amount of money in both Sterling and US dollars was missing from his bum bag.
The money was in an envelope inside the bag. Also taken was a brown leather wallet containing a driving licence. The victim believes they were stolen by the stranger.
The victim is said to be very distressed by the incident. Both men have now returned to the US.
The incident happened on Saturday 18 April, but was not reported until about a week later. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting incident 107 of 24 April 2015.
