AN URGENT warning has been issued by police urging businesses and shoppers to be careful of fake £50 notes in circulation in Gloucestershire.
Gloucestershire Police say they have been made aware of the counterfeit bank notes being in circulation.
A spokesperson said in a community alert: “It has been brought to the Alcohol Licensing Team's attention that FAKE £50 notes are in circulation.
“Small purchases are being made for large amounts of change.

They added: “If you are unsure how to check your bank notes, below is a link and small video from the Bank of England to assist with this matter.”
“Please don't hesitate to call the police if you witness suspicious activity and dial 999 if you believe a crime is taking place.”
