CONSERVATIVE Jack Lopresti has won the newly-created Filton and Bradley Stoke constituency with 19,686 votes.

He took the seat with a majority of 6,914 with Labour candidate Ian Boulton in second, with 12,772 votes, and Liberal Democrat Peter Tyzack in third with 12,197 votes.

Mr Lopresti told the Gazette: “I am excited and feel very humble. It is a huge honour to be the first representative of Filton and Bradley Stoke.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed the past four weeks and my campaign focused on trying to stop 33,000 homes being built in South Gloucestershire, protecting Frenchay Hospital and anti-social behaviour.”

A turnout of 70.1 percent was recorded across the 47 polling stations in the constituency.

Almondsbury Old School Hall saw a turnout of 81.7 percent and Winterbourne Library recorded a turnout of 71.1 percent.

Other candidates include John Knight (UKIP) with 1,506 votes, David Scott (BNP) with 1,328 votes, Jon Lucas (Green) with 441 votes, Ruth Johnson (Christian Party) with 199 votes and Zero None of the Above (Independent) with 172 votes.
