GFA Challenge Trophy Second Round
Slimbridge 2 Hallen 1
SLIMBRIDGE dumped holders Hallen out of the GFA Challenge Trophy in a second round tie at Wisloe Road on Tuesday evening.
The Swans now face a home third round match-up with Bristol Telephones, on a game scheduled for November 29.
The home side took the lead just before the half-hour when Dean Turner slotted home from the edge of the box, but a Tom Collett penalty just before the break saw the sides go into the break on level terms.
Substitutes Paul Fahy and Adam Mace combined on 67 minutes for Mace to put Slimbridge back in front, a lead they held comfortably until the final whistle.
Slimbridge: Evans, Turl, Brown, Freeman, Hoyle, Ward, Turner, Parrot (Irvine 59), Lawson, Martin (Mace 60), Hammond (Fahy 55).
Star man: Freddy Ward.
* Winterbourne are bottom of the Western League Premier Division after losing 4-1 at Hallen on Saturday.
Luke Mills scored a brace inside the first 27 minutes for the hosts and Andy Cook extended their lead ten minutes before the break.
Winterbourne had Rob Sivers sent off in the 78th minute before Tom Collett added Hallen's fourth two minutes later with Chris Williams scoring a consolation goal at the other end with eight minutes left.
Almondsbury UWE moved up to second in the First Division as Nick Rugman (2), Joe Black and Steve Fitzpatrick scored in their 4-2 win over Cheddar.
