Cam (164 all out) lost to Cirencester (171-9) by seven runs

FOR the second week running it was so close yet so far away for Cam as they lost a tight game away to Cirencester.

After being asked to field first, opening bowlers George Dolling (2-29) and Ryan Western kept a tight rein on the opening batsmen and it was not long before the dots had mounted up and a wild swing from Moody saw Dolling claim the first wicket.

This was maintained with the introduction of Ben Holloway and Gareth Udal (3-39). Udal dismissed Williams (28) and Rudd in consecutive overs.

Danger man Jamieson-Black soon followed after a diving catch from Dolbear, again off Udal and a reaction catch off his own bowling saw Holloway remove Binnie leaving Ciren 75-5.

With the run rate never getting above three, Alex Ballard joined the party and had Lamble caught by Dolling.

Some resistance by Reynolds (41) and Rowe (23) enabled Cirencester to build a partnership. This continued until the 42nd over when Dolling returned to bowl Reynolds.

Adam Holloway ran out Rowe with little over two overs left.

The last nine balls cost Cam dear as Fullalove was dropped three times all steepling shots.

The Cam innings started positively as Adam Holloway and Pete Hall managed to bat Roberts out the attack and Fullalove had no response to some well played cover drives from Holloway.

As the score raced into the 30s Ciren brought Jameison-Black into the attack.

This created a number of problems for Cam as Hall played on for 17 and then Holloway was adjudged leg before for 19.

Stuart Newman was joined by Mike Glover, but Newman followed Holloway and Hall after being bowled and Udal played a loose shot to be caught.

Jamieson-Black's opening four overs containing a wicket in each and cost 14 runs.

Tom Deakin joined Glover and made his intentions clear just to see off Ciren's main threat.

With runs coming off of Williams at the other end, both men were able to show restraint and wait for the bad ball.

A firm foothold was restored in the game for Cam until Deakin played a half-hearted shot to short mid-wicket off Williams.

Western added a quick 14 before being hit on the pads.

Dolbear entered the fray with Cam 70 runs short of the target. He and Glover continued to notch runs onto the scoreboard.

Some well executed shots from Dolbear brought Cam to within 40 before he was caught on the boundary for 23.

Glover, maintaining a cool head at the other end, was able to work the fielders and find the gaps. Ben Holloway came and went after chipping the ball straight down the ground.

Glover was then bowled for 41 leaving Ballard and Dolling needing 24 off the last five overs.

Ballard took Fullalove to the cleaners with a huge six over square and a cover drive for four.

With three overs remaining Roberts was bought back into the attack. His first two balls wide of the mark, leaving Cam needing seven.

Unfortunately for Cam his next ball clipped the top of the off stump and handed a second close defeat to Cam in two weeks.
