NIGEL Burford and Jo Browning were out in the cold on Sunday at three events at Castle Combe under the 9Bar Chilly label.

Although it was chilly, the low temperatures with little or no wind were ideal.

The 10k Chilly Duathlon course consists of a two mile run, followed by a 10 mile bike ride and another two mile run.

Dursley athletes Burford and Browning did well, with Burford placed an impressive fifth in his category.

Browning ran well and stayed under 13 minutes on the second run.

He posted an impressive finish in 140th position in a time of 49.15mins.

The third event was the 10K and nine Dursley athletes were there with a mix of experienced runners and those new to the sport.

It was the latter who made the most gains on the day, with Damian Lai knocking seven minutes off his personal best, and Sara Eden also making big inroads into her best time.

Rachael Goatman achieved a PB in going under the hour. Joe Ball, running his first 10K, paced himself well and finished an excellent third junior, showing the benefits of 5K park running as preparation.

The experienced runners made inroads of their own with Neil Truelove coming home first for the club, and 19th supervet, he will be pleased with his negative splits over the distance, as will Annette Heylings who finished first in her age category Results :Neil Truelove, 116th, 00:46:41.1, (19th Supvet); Neil Malpass, 129th , 00:48:06.0, (22nd , Supvet), Joe Ball, 138th , 00:47:54.6, (3rd Junior); Antony Ball, 184th , 00:50:20.5; Annette Heylings, 295th, 00:56:19.4, (1st , supvet60); Damian Lai, 365th , 00:59:29.4; Rachael Goatman, 366th , 00:59:32.2 (PB);Sara Eden, 430th, 01:03:21.6,(PB); Emma Boxall, 466th , 01:07:47.2.
