A BUSY week for Dursley Running Club saw athletes competing in a wide range of events, starting with the club Handicap.

Eighty two members ran the 3.6 mile course last week.

Emily Harding was first home, Luci Lai second and Karen Eadon third, first man home was Steve Peers, Andrew Kilby hot on his heels and Mike Brown third.

Joe Browning was fastest man in 21:37mins and Keeley Smith, fastest woman in 24:36mins, was just in front of Kimberley Bird.

Three events took place last Wednesday.

Thornbury RC’s Sundayshill 10K saw a good turnout from the club.

Mike Crompton came home first for Dursley and fifth overall in 37:41mins.

Kevin Jackson placed first MV55 with Zoe Lamerton leading the Dursley RC women home with Hannah Brooks just eight seconds behind. Julie Froggatt was third FV50.

Eleven DRC members took part in the Bristol Orienteering Klub’s Urban and Park Series Race last week.

For some this was their first taste of orienteering. Pete Dunn was highest placed on the ‘blue’ map with Katherine Sealey and Antony Ball coming 11th on the ‘green’.

Rich Pitts, Andy Kilby,Mel and Ray Williams completed the fourth Waterland Aquathon. Both Pitts and Williams managed personal bests.

On Saturday, Dave Durden ran Dursley’s fastest parkrun of the weekend at Kingsway where there were PBs for John Delafield, Paul Lewington, Jadie Cotterell John Hieron and Louise Biddell.

Charlie Strickland was running at Kingsway for the first time and ran a parkrun PB on the course of 25:25mins and was first in her category.

Eileen Hieron was yet again top of the pile on age grade percentage at 81.31 per cent.

Pitts travelled south to the Bath Duathlon, completing the course in 45:08mins placing first supervet and 14th overall.
