Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Division Two
Dursley Town 1 Wotton Rovers 2
WOTTON Rovers followed-up their Reg Davis Cup triumph at The Rec with victory in the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League second division to leave Phil Miles’ Dursley side without a win from their first three games.
Rovers took the lead ten minutes before the interval when a set-piece cannoned off both player-boss Miles and Steve Hobbs before nestling in the back of the net.
The visitors doubled their tally midway through the second period with a shot that went in at the near post, although Dursley were handed a lifeline late on.
Wotton Rovers were then forced to play a man down as they had a player sent-off with five minutes to go. Thiala Clark pulled a goal back almost immediately, but the hosts were unable to salvage a point.
Dursley: P Dykes; S Hobbs, S Miles, L Bendall, M Workman; M Humphrey, P Miles (A Griffith 46), A Baker; T Clark, J Warner; J Shimman.
Goals: Clark (85).
Stroud League Division Three
Dursley Town Res 2 Trident 4
DURSLEY Town’s second string lost their opening game of the season for the third year in succession as Gloucester side Trident came from behind to triumph at The Rec.
Liam Kitchen swept home a rebound to give Town a 20th-minute lead, but an own goal and an over-hit cross swiftly turned the match the visitors’ way.
Kitchen pounced on another loose ball to level before the break, but two more quick goals early in the second half settled the contest in the away side’s favour.
Indeed, the longer the game went on it became increasingly evident which side had recently enjoyed promotions and which had suffered confidence-sapping relegations.
Dursley: K Watson; S Pearson, N Taylor, L Bevan, C Wilkins; W Hazelwood, J Rodgers, R Lyon, J Redbond; S Stokes-Johnson, L Kitchen. Rolling substitutes: T Viney, T Workman.
