Thornbury 2nds 4 North Wilts 2nds 1

THORNBURY seconds fielded their youngest ever league team with the oldest player being a mere 19 years of age.

The first half flowed from end to end with the older visiting side having difficulty coping with the fleet footed youngsters. Megan Smith, Lucy Matthews and Anna Prince were effective in mid field contributing a number passing exchanges which allowed Hannah Williams and Jess Taylor to cause problems for the visitors.

Despite a number of chances it was not until the 28th minute that Molly Smith opened the scoring following good work from Claire Brealey. Thornbury continued to play with enthusiasm in the second period and further goals were scored by Laura Haywood 2 and a second from Molly Smith.

Emma Matthews and Lou Taylor also contributed to this excellent performance whilst Hannah Kemp in goal, although beaten once, also made some sound saves.

Thornbury have a blank league date on Saturday and can look forward to their next game against Badminton with eager anticipation.
